‘Litter to blame for Stoke-on-Trent rat infestation’
THERE has been a lot of concern over the city being infested with rats in recent weeks, and rightly so.
The biggest problem is litter discarded from takeaways and the like. The council should monitor this more closely and the offenders should be given a hefty fine as a deterrent. Our streets are full of litter as we all can see. I feel the best way to tackle this problem is for all the fit and healthy people on benefits to be made responsible for cleaning up litter-affected areas in North Staffordshire – and there are plenty of them. This would give them a sense of achievement and get them back on the jobs ladder, and we would all benefit by having clean streets and public areas.
