Why control feral pigeons and pest birds

Birds are a nuisance when they nest or roost in unwanted areas. Feral pigeons and their droppings and nesting materials will negatively impact our surroundings by creating health and safety issues, or detract from buildings architectural features.
Installing bird control products is a humane way to deter birds from landing, roosting or nesting.

The longer pest birds are allowed to roost or nest in an unwanted area, the more difficult it will be to get rid of them. It’s important to take a proactive approach when dealing with pest birds.

  • HEALTH RISK

Feral pigeon/bird droppings and nesting materials can carry  60 + diseases and ectoparasites transmittable to humans and animals. The diseases pose a great risk to individuals with compromised or weakened immune systems such as the young, elderly and those living with auto immune diseases

  • STOCK DAMAGE

Bird fouling can damage products, packaging and contaminate production lines. Birds can often be found nesting or perching on beams in warehouses and storage facilities. Bird fouling present in such areas is to be avoided.

  • COST OF CLEANUP

A Business that clean up after birds on a daily or weekly basis are wasting money and exposing employees to serious health risks. Some businesses spend thousands of pounds and hundreds of man hours each year on the regular clean up of bird droppings. Installing bird deterrent systems can save businesses time and money.

  • POOR COMPANY IMAGE

Bird fouling and nests are an unattractive feature for any business. Birds on a sign or ledge, or droppings covering a footpath may send a message to visitors that the business is irresponsible.

  • PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT DAMAGE

Pigeon fouling may render machinery or equipment inoperable or may require regular clean up so operators are not exposed to the myriad of diseases.  Droppings are highly acidic and if left on items for prolonged time can corrode materials and stain fabrics.

  • SLIP AND FALL RISK

Pigeon droppings are very slippery underfoot.  If a customer or employee falls they may be injured and sue.

  • BLOCKED DRAINS AND GUTTERS

Droppings and nesting materials regularly clog drains and gutters. This can cause other problems on roofs and other areas by damming water and creating the potential of flooding.
